Scotland in Photos: Edinburgh

Scotland in Photos: Edinburgh

First of a new post series, Scotland in Photos. Over time I hope to gather photos to show the different aspect of Scotland’s beauty, history and culture, from it’s cities to its hills to its coastline, all via photographs I have taken over time 🙂

The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh, is a beautiful city, filled with gothic architecture, unique street acts and plenty to do. With a vast history still seen along it’s streets and lanes, as well as more modern features there’s something for everyone.

Obviously, there is Edinburgh Castle, right in the centre of town….

Princes Street Gardens is a quiet spot for a small break from teh busy shoppers of Princes Street. These gardens line the outside of the castle, and originally contained water and were known together as Nor Loch, created to protect the castle from ambush.

If you’re a sports fan, you’ll know about BT Murrayfield Stadium (my home-away-from-home)….

Watching Scotland play rugby in the 6 Nations. Always an incredible atmosphere!

Plenty of hills to climb….

The sunsets are jaw-dropping….

The festival bring some quirky, exciting pop-up bars….

The Cow Shed pop-up bar is a favourite at festival time on the Cowgate

George Street is where you’ll want to spend all your money…

But even if you’re skint, you’ve got to check it out at Christmas…

The Dome is famous for getting everyone on George Street into the Christmas spririt

And it might be a city, but you can have a water-side escape in Cramond….

There really are thousands of beautiful spots in Edinburgh, many actually that are very unexpected, like an alley way with its own eerie, historical mysteries. I’ll no doubt have to do a second post like this with Edinburgh as time goes on!
